This post is all about crochet motif patterns that you can make in less than 20 minutes. These motif crochet patterns will add to your collection, up your crochet skill, or transform into a bigger project.
What is a Motif?
A motif are small crochet shape that is joined to create something bigger or depict an item. One of the most common crochet motifs would be a granny square.
Motifs are often created as mini projects (flowers, bows, granny squares) and can be turned into bigger projects such as purses, blankets, and hats!
Motif crochet projects can be very simple and easy to create. Others can take more time depending on the complexity of the pattern and/or the size of the project. For example, instead of making just one granny square. You are intending to make 100+ to turn it into a blanket.
Why motifs?
Learning how to make motifs can increase your skill as a crocheter. Motifs range in difficulty levels and can be created based on your skill level. You can turn multiple sunflower granny squares into a beautiful purse or blanket. Or simply make one beautiful flower and call it a day.
Supplies You’ll Need
In these projects, I am using Caron Simply Soft Yarn for my motif crochet patterns. You can use any yarn that you like, but I do like to add my recommendations in case you want to crochet the motif exactly as you see it with the same materials.
Crochet hooks
I am using a size H(5.00mm) Clover hook for all of my patterns. You can use a smaller hook and weight in yarn for more delicate crochet motifs.
Scissors
Have a good pair of scissors nearby to help with fasting off the ends before you weave in your crochet loose ends.
