These are the most beautiful square crochet coasters you should read about.
These square crochet coasters are perfect crochet projects to make in your free time. Although I don’t have crochet patterns, yet, making a square crochet coaster is quite simple.
Square crochet coasters can come in various levels of difficulty. Ranging from beginner-friendly, advanced beginner, and advanced.
You can make a square crochet coaster with a foundation chain, a square crochet coaster with more complex stitches, and/or granny squares! I put together a list of beautiful crochet coasters I’ve created in the past couple of days and will continue to add to it as time goes on. Shall we begin?
First things first
The best yarn to use when making square crochet coasters is 100% cotton yarn (recommended: mercerized)
Mercerized (yarn): yarn is chemically processed to last long in color, and durability, and doesn’t shrink or lose its shape. This makes it the perfect yarn for square crochet coasters because if its ultimate purpose.
This yarn is awesome for creating square crochet coasters because it is more durable for cups, drinks, spillages, etc. If there is a spillage it won’t damage the yarn as much as it would with normal yarn. Everything is a preference when it comes to crochet projects, but I prefer making all of my crochet coasters with mercerized cotton yarn.
Habit of creativity
Crochet is all creativity and trying out new things. So if you don’t like the texture of the yarn, feel free to try other yarn fabrics that will make your coaster more appealing to the eye. I only recommend that which is in my preference of doing. Let’s take a look at some of the best square crochet coasters to make!
Sunflower Girl
This sunflower square crochet coaster is the perfect crochet project for you. The best part about this square crochet coaster is that it can be created in different colors, making it customizable and gift-giving friendly. This is suited for more advanced beginners who know how to create a magic circle and understand abbreviations (hdc, dc, tr) and increase in multiples.
Difficulty level: Advanced beginner
The Chic Rug
This is an adorable chic square crochet coaster. Although this is a little bit more rectangular, it is still a great project and similar to the square crochet coasters. This project consists of the most basic crochet stitches that are meant for beginners. Including cutting yarn pieces and tying them to the end, to get that chic look. You can crochet with yarn that is already dyed multiple colors or you can add and takeaway colors until you get the desired look.
Difficult level: Beginner friendly
Let’s make it colorful
These square crochet coasters are rocking it, aren’t they? This is a simple granny square that is perfect for a square crochet coaster. But in this square crochet granny square, I mixed it up a little bit. I added both pink and white as that was the look I was going for. It makes it stand out and you can add more colors if you want to.
Difficulty level: Advanced beginners (though beginners can learn this with the right technique/tips for a granny square)
No waffles were harmed during the making of this coaster
Learning how to make the waffle stitch will really add to your skillset and experience as a beginner or advanced beginner. This waffle stitch may seem complicated, but is very simple once learnt. It consists of manipulating the front and back posts of the stitch. Alternating between rows to have the appearance look just like a waffle. You have to have a specific style when gifting giving this to someone, but nonetheless, this was very fun to make.
Difficulty level: Advanced beginner
Ombre it out
Who doesn’t like a beautiful ombre look? This square crochet coaster is very simple and easy to make. The yarn is what makes it stand out as unique and different. It consists of half double crochets to make it sturdy enough and flat enough as a crochet coaster. You can also use the single crochet stitch to create this pattern as well.
Difficulty level: Beginner friendly
The Plushie Coaster
This square crochet coaster is more for decor and styling of your home. Although you can use it as a coaster, it is mainly for decoration and light use. This yarn is very delicate, soft to the touch, and must be treated well. I created this square crochet coaster out of half double crochets and is lovely for those looking for this aesthetic.
Difficulty level: Beginner friendly
The Simplistic Coaster
This is the most simplistic square crochet coaster to make as a beginner. It only takes half double crochet or single crochet stitch. No need to worry about color changing, calling ombres, or turning it into a flower. And normally that is the best kind of gift to give. Not everyone likes the specialties of things and that is completely okay!
Difficulty level: Very beginner-friendly (It’s almost like making a swatch)
And there we have it. The perfect square crochet coasters that not only you can make in the future, but can help with inspiration. These square crochet coasters were so much fun to make and I can’t wait until you can make them.
